Anyone know why Duke's yearbook is named after a rooster?

Duke Archives is a good place to search for such information. http://library.duke.edu/uarchives/history/chanticleer-faq.html

Is this a generational thing? I have a few decades behind me, but the image of a rooster suggests announcement. Roosters were well known for their crowing at sunrise, which served as an announcement of the beginning of the day. Has this image lost its relevance?

Thank you. It seems to me that #3 would be the most logical. Keeping The Chanticleer as the name of the annual as a nod back to the days of Trinity College.

To stay current, the name should be changed to "Jersey Mike's Chanticleer.."

It's a rooster - perhaps Chick-fil-A would like to sponsor it?
