I was wondering if anyone has any info on blogging...Me and my wife will be having some time off and were looking (half-way seriously) into checking out the blogging scene as a fairly serious hobby. We've already got a little something going as you can see from my signature. Eventually, we'd would love to maybe make a least a little bit of money from it (maybe to buy a six-pack), but really it would just be for fun. The wife has looked more seriously into other blog sites and how-to sites, but I was wondering what y'alls opinion on blogging sites are (is?). What do you (would you) find interesting? Tips?
Thanks in advance!

I operate 2 blogs, one for random subjects and one for soccer news. Honestly, if you are interested in a particular subject and love writing on it, do it! It can be anything. Blogging is easy to do, and if you have the time and energy to continue to update it, it can be awesome for your readers.

As for making money for it, the more readers you have, the better your chances of getting some ad money for it. My readership is not at that point yet (I'm actually not sure what my readership is).

If you want to check out mine just to see what I've done and to get some ideas about what you want to do (or if you're interested in random news or soccer), feel free to check them out:

I switched two blogs to posterous (http://posterous.com/) recently and it's been great. You can just email your entry and attach pictures/videos whatnot with the entry and it just figures it all out for you. I tried Tumblr before this and while it had some nice features, it was just way too slow.

If you're a bit more adventurous and tech-savvy, WordPress is probably the way to go. Blogger is good, too, and very straight forward.

I currently do a blog just for the heck of it. From everything that I know about blogging there are basically two big sources for hosting a blog if you don't want to code everything yourself. These have been mentioned above...Blogger and WordPress.

WordPress is a more powerful blogging option as you can embed more widgets into the blog and you can post from your iPhone, email or even text.

Blogger has its benefits (and is run by google) but in the little bit i've use it is far less customizable.
