Duke early Decision apps up 33 percent (http://dukechronicle.com/article/early-decision-apps-33-percent-over-last-fall)

For those who were freaking out because we slipped to #10 in the USN&WR rankings...I think Duke will be just fine. Interesting that the previous record for ED was in 2001 (the last time we won the national championship). Coincidence? I think not. Also I think it's clear there was an effect on ED immediately after the lacrosse case. And I think the removal of ED at Harvard, Princeton, and UVa has had some effect as well (although that was also the case last year, so perhaps it's something else).

Interesting and timely. I'm interviewing my first two ED candidates today. I just told the one young lady that last year Duke accepted 36% of ED applicants and she was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, based on the above article, I would guess that percentage most likely would go down.
