Anyone on it? I really want to start trying it out as I have heard good things. I have also heard it's still pretty buggy...thoughts about it?
PS-I'm willing to trade a Google Voice Invite for a Google Wave Invite as I have a voice invite im not using.

I have Google Wave but no more invites. It seems like a really good tool to replace MS Exchange and/or 37 Signals tools with, but as for personal use, it's pretty lame. It's not as easy as email, and it's not as useful as facebook, somewhere in between.
Since you mentioned it, Google Voice is a lot cooler idea than Wave, but all Google really did was buy Grand Central (which happens to be the company that spun off my current company!).

I got it. The best description I've read said it's a great tool that I have no use for.
Other than 4 way sudoku. That's pretty dope.

GV is pretty cool - and now, they're letting you use it with your existing cell number, to replace your current VM system offered by your carrier. I already do that today with a MS Exchange account, but if I didn't have that option (for friends & family only right now), I'd be using GV in an instant.
Having your messages transcribed and e-mailed to you (and searchable) is 10x better than having to call in and listen to it. (Especially when the caller is, say, your mom, and you need to know if she just called to talk, or if someone died.)

I'm on google wave, but don't have any invites.
I have to say that right now, it is far more hype than substance, and that is largely due to the limited availability- you need your friends, coworkers, etc to be on google wave for it to have any real value.
Wave will be much more relevant a year from now, or whenever open access allows wave to compete with facebook, etc.

I agree - I'm on Google Wave as well, but don't have many other people on it so don't log in all that often. I know that the internal memo at Google was to send the invites to groups of people so that this would not be an issue, but from what I understand it's common for most people to have few connections.

I could be wrong but I don't see Wave in its current form as a FB competitor. It's really a collaboration tool that would be really useful in project communication and planning. It doesn't seem like a social network kinda site.
RE: Google Voice - It's awesome. I just switched my voicemail to use it instead of the standard VZW voicemail. So far so good, although my phone rings quite a bit before going into GV.

I agree that this does not feel llike "Social Media." It's more like a tool with a lot of intriguing possibilities. I just haven't got an opportunity to explore them yet.
So... I will make a shameless request that if anyone has any Wave invitations gathering dust, I would love to have it. I received my Gmail account invitation from a generous member of this board (gvtucker), so I thought it was worth a shot.

As a followup. A friend of mine invited me. As of yet, I don't have any invites so Juise you're out of luck at least for now.
It's pretty cool from everything that I've tested out. Though I don't have a ton of contacts on it yet so I haven't done too many waves. I can see once its opened to the public that it will be tremendously useful, but until its public it may not be that useful. I do not see it ever competing with facebook, but i could see it replacing email/google docs/instant messenger. Just my $0.02 after using it for two days :)

Thanks, jigj4194, but I got an invite from a kind member of the boards.
I agree with your general assessment. Until I can get a bunch of my friends on Wave, I won't have many fellow collaborators and thus, not much use for Wave.
The interface has been somewhat non-intuitive for me, but I also see a lot of potential.

I have several more invites if anyone is interested. PM me with your email address.
That said, I haven't found a legitimate use for Wave yet.

Apparently not many others did either...
Yesterday, Google announced the suspension of any further development of Wave.
