Recognizing the obvious imperfections of any generalized “best” listing (and some might suggest, especially those from US News), I was surprised and pleased that Durham was just ranked as the #5 “Best Place to Live.” The list follows:
1. Albuquerque, N.M.
2. Auburn, Ala.
3. Austin, Texas
4. Boise, Idaho
5. Durham, N.C.
6. La Crosse, Wis.
7. Loveland, Colo.
8. San Luis Obispo, Calif.
9. St. Augustine, Fla.
10. Upper St. Clair, Pa.

Loveland, CO has to be on the list. It is the Valentine mailing capital of the world.

Those are in alphabetical order, so I presume there is no discrimination among the top 10.
That said, having grown up in Fox Chapel, it is my civic duty to point out that Upper Saint Clair sucks.

Loveland is the winner in my opinion. About an hour from Denver, close to Boulder, close to Rocky Mt. National Park. Directly next to Fort Collins (and a certain brewery). I could move there quite easily.:)
