Great story - thanks for posting!

Little Legue of America also has a similar progam (it is called the Challenger Division). We began one at North Durham Little League about 4 years ago, and completed a specialized field about 3 years ago. It is very expensive to build a field that is complteley handicap accessable and on which wheelchairs can navigate smoothly. Our challenger division has been a wonderful experience for both the players and the volunteers (a lot of who are the older kids in "regular" Little League).

my son is on this team...the field is made of cork...it's smaller than a regulation baseball field, but no less fun...

the businesses that put this together have been incredible...

If I were closer, I would come and cheer on your son and all the other athletes on the teams. Thank you for sharing the link.

My nephew, Timothy Allen, plays in that league and was on the all-star team that played at Five Cunty Stadium last summer. They are attempting to start another league here in Smithfield/Johnston County. Here's a story from the local paper. Timothy is the baserunner in red! (Yes, he's a State fan, his folks are both State alums.)

Thank you for sharing. Such a great organization for the children.

Off topic brings some of the best life stories.

The Duke Baseball team had no games scheduled this weekend so they participated in the Miracle League games this past weekend. Once again, Duke athletes prove that they are quality individuals.
