What do you think?

It's not new to me. I assume you're talking about the not "new thingee" we were talking about in the other thread?

I had no idea what you were talking about until I went and read the EKB (not sure why I'd be reading the main board on a basketball site, who does that?). Yeah, same thing being discussed in that thread. The new and updated "first new post" button. It's more obvious than the previous one (a down arrow). I like it, although it might be a pixel or two too large.

It might have been all the beers I've had while posting, but I never noticed it until today, which is why I posted about it over yonder. Now that I realize what it actually does, it's my new little buddy. Good button.

I'm with you. It took me a while to notice the old down arrow, but once I figured it out, it's the only way I browse new posts. I think the new button is more obvious.

Again, I never noticed the down arrow (i.e., previous button).
Agreed that the button/thingee is more obvious.:o

I voted "love it!"
That may be a little strong, but I think its good. For one, I'm sure there are quite a few posters who didn't know what the arrow (the people saying "what arrow") did. This is more obvious. Its also larger, making it easier to click on with my finger when browsing on my iPod Touch. Its a little less aesthetically pleasing in my opinion, but I think it works better than the arrow.

It took me a while to figure out the old arrow button, too. The word "new" gives people a map; the sense of discovery is gone:p

I don't like it. Before I kept track of what I hadn't read yet because those thread titles were bolded. This is just an eyesore.

Agreed. I'm glad that more people are now aware that they can click over to the first unread post of a previously visited thread. But using the word "New" on the button suggests that the whole thread is new, which isn't necessarily true. Maybe I'd be okay with it if the button said something else.

Okay, I just now have gotten the new button. I was like WT# is everyone talking about?

I liked the old bold and unbold typeface. The new new button is redundant.

I wonder if everyone yet knows just what the "new" button does. It doesn't point out a new thread. It takes you to the first post within a thread that you have NOT read.
Sorry if I misunderstood a couple posts, wouldn't be the first time.:)

Hmmm, well check that out. I didn't realize that. OK, I changed my mind - it's alright to keep.

Yes, I just figured out what the new new button does. I had mistakenly thought that it meant that a new reply was in a thread, which is what the bolding did previously. Hitting the NEW button takes you to the first unread post in the thread.
I think it's pretty cool.

I wonder if everyone knows that this function was present before the "new" button in the form of a "down arrow" button in the same spot the "new" button currently resides.

Well, no. I didn't know that.
I feel so stupid.
Thanks for the feedback. We wanted a more obvious button, but not an eyesore. We could make it just a bit bigger (but only a bit), and work with, say, 5 or 6 letters.
So: what short word (other than "New") might mean "click here to jump to your first unread message in this thread"?

Definitely don't make it bigger, whatever you do =)

Yeah I remember the day I discovered what the old button did... it was like turning on a light bulb. I like the new button. I'd actually prefer it a bit smaller (maybe 1 pixel smaller on each of the top and bottom edges).

I don't have a "new" button. I saw it today on another computer, but below is the screen shot from my computer with the "old" button still there. Well, I would have attached the screen shot, but it is too big a file for the "paperclip" to size it down. Trust me, it is the "old" down chevron button, with no word in it.

"Go"? Maybe add an arrow? I don't know. Still a great feature, just more misleading now.

And at 8:55 p.m. e.s.t. on Christmas Eve, the "New" button finally showed up on my computer. Will wonders never cease?:D
