Well...actually it's my 5 month old granddaughter. But our most favorite afternoon delight is watching Duke BB -- as I explain to her the game.

We also enjoy watching NYGiants FB, and...listening to music -- mostly 60's rock and classical. Never too early to turn a new kid into a Dukie.

Does anyone really want to name any members of the SVB:o?

Did anyone REALLY want to see a musical based off the collected works of ABBA?

I think a musical based on SVB's one hit wonder makes perfect sense.

FWIW, David Letterman appeared on the SVB TV show.

Ah, yes. A reference to one of my favorite SNL skits ever! (Although the cowbell skit is now rivaled by more than one from this season...)

Bill Danoff - who also wrote Country Roads (John Denver) and Boulder to Brimingham (Emmy Lou Harris)

Apparently yes. And lots of people, too. I am NOT included in that number. Not only a musical but a movie, too. :o:eek:

I hate this thread.

I haven't been able to post until now but I've been lurking.

Now I can't get this dang song out of my head.

Thanks, EJ.

Seems to me that one could name fine-crafted brews after 70's music/one hit wonders.

And actually, I am more than surprised that SOMEONE on the DBR (err... devildeac) didn't mention this:

The shame of it, devildeac!:D

just do what feels right...

or to quote a sitcom that got canceled:
"I am gonna nudge your world"

could be changed to:
gonna nudge her world upright

Well, just to make your loss of respect total - I actually saw them in concert at the Cellar Door in Georgetown in 1976 or 77. In my defense, there are large parts of 1976 and 77 I would just as soon forget.

OTOH, anyone who has written a song for Emmy Lou Harris gets a lot of credit in my book. Having written Boulder to Birmingham earned him enough musical karma to offest Afternoon Delight and Country Roads. Emmy Lou = the embodiment of physical and vocal perfection.

Doesn't every song need more cowbell?

Dvorak's New World Symphony did NOT need more cowbell. 2Pac needed no more cowbell.

Other than that, you are correct.;)

Well, okay. Your EmmyLou reasoning makes sense.

Still, that chocolate chip cookie routine still has me wondering about you.;)

Are you sure it's not "why wait until the middle of a cold dark night"?

That makes much more sense.

Well, now that you mention it, it DOES make more sense.

This song came out during the summer between eighth and ninth grades. I don't think I was really paying attention to what the lyrics meant back then.
