I just found out, by watching a special on JFK, that my head is the exact same size as JFK's. Like me, EarlJam, JFK wore a 7 3/8" hat size.

That is all.

7 1/2". Glad to know I'm not the only one with a freakishly large head around here.

I gotta big head.

Don't we all? :D

Having a brain our size requires an adequate container.
Our necks must stay sore, having to hold up these large heads with such gigantic brains.

And my dad always said, "Grass don't grown on a busy street." which explains the lack of hair on my big head.:)

I don't know how big my head is. :( Was the measuring of heads some journey-into-manhood-tradition that I missed, like buying your first suit, or does this just show my unwillingness to have my noggin measured in order to purchase a hat?

My hat size changes with how much hair I have. When I have the sides of my head freshly shaved, some of the hats I own won't stay on my head, and when my sides are longer, some hats won't make it on my head at all. Luckily, my cat-in-the-hat hat is stretchy.

P.S. I have a lot of hats, and have no idea what my official size is.

You know you have a fat head when you look at the everyday "one size fits all" baseball caps in the store and just laugh "yeah, right."

I can't recall EarlJam wearing a hat (baseball caps don't count). How do you know your hat size when you don't wear a hat?

Why not? Wouldn't a 7 3/8" hat size in a baseball cap be the same size requirement for any other hat? No?

I knit hats out of nice, stretchy wool all the time. Unless your noggin' is off the charts, my hats will fit you. That's why I use the stretchy wool. Stretchy yet soft and comfortable, merino wool is the best.

Many baseball caps have those snaps in the back that allow you to wear a multitude of sizes.

While I wear a "Large" cap, you wear a 7.375 inch cap.

I confess I only know because I recently acquired a fedora to wear with my suit an overcoat. My head gets cold in Chicago winters, now that my hair is so thin. :(

On the upside, the hat is freakin' sweet.

Where'd you get it? I've been looking for a good fedora for years. Anybody know any good online places to get one?

It's usually the same for most hats. I know a lot of cowboy hats are in the same sizes as baseball caps.

I always keep my hair really short, like down to the scalp short. My squash is so big, sometimes when I go a week without cutting my hair, my 7 1/2 hats are too snug. :)

True dat, but they also make fitted caps. Fitted caps were crazy popular a few years ago. They still might be but I wouldn't know. I only wear caps at baseball games, and those are hybrid sized (XL) with a an adjustable strap.

I want a fedora to go with my suit and overcoat. No shame in having a cold head. Mine has been betting colder and colder since i was a senior in high school. :)

Nice! I just picked up a Trilby for the same reason. http://www.shoebuy.com/pi/bollm/bollm229483_130098_lg.jpg
It's a little less formal than the Fedora, which lets me where it with casual clothes as well as when I am formal.

7 5/8. What is it with DBR and big heads...

Online hat resources:

www.hatlounge.com (Actually a Durham store in Northgate)

I like to buy direct form the manufacturer when I can, but these sites provided lots of research.

If I shave bald, a 7-5/8" fits. If I have pretty much any hair, it goes up to an 7-3/4". And once I sweat in them, they seem to shrink pretty bad. When bald, I really need a 7-3/4" by the time I wear it 3-4 times. When I have hair, I need an 8" by the time I wear a hat a few times. Part of my problem is my head shape, too. I have a longer, slightly narrower head, so my caps get stretched lengthwise and start looking rather farmer- or trucker-ish, and wearing a football helmet in college was a pain. I had to get a HUGE size, then take the air out of the front and back pads and blow up the side pads huge.

You must look wierd! :D

Having read the above, I cannot get a picture in my mind. Especially after the football helmet part.

And we don't think this thread is about HAT size at all. Hmmmm... is hat a euphemism for... say, other body parts? And I'm not talking about shoes or gloves or belts here...

God no. My overcoat is dark olive, and my hat is brown. Abramoff's are black. I also think I have far more style as regards suits/jackets/shirt & tie combos, and I'm trying to avoid his pudgy/pasty look.

My hat:

I will now and forever picture bjornolf to look like "Jeriba Shigan," Lou Gossett, Jr's character from Enemy Mine:
