Wow, I just checked out this site last night and have been uploading my music collection overnight (not nearly done yet).

Lala.com is an online music store similar to iTunes or Amazon's mp3 store, but it also features some remarkable new features.

The article spells it out better than I could. http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/10/20/lala-may-have-just-built-the-next-revolution-in-digital-music/

The best feature I've seen so far is the ability to scan and upload your entire music library so that it can be listened to anywhere. This pretty amazing.

Sounds like a smart play. If they add a feature like Pandora or Last.FM to find similar/new music for your collection, it'll probably be a solid service. I wonder what their mobile story is (mobile web? downloadable client?), as well as the DRM on the 90-cent MP3s.

Since I got the Zune Pass (all-you-can-eat music subscription for $15/mos.,) I've been listening to music so much more than I had in the past couple of years. I like that I can stream any song from the web, whether from my computer or my Zune device. It's totally changed my media habits, and I actually am reasonably current on new groups again. No longer is my musical taste stuck in the late 80's/early 90's.
