White Sox left fielder and the AL home run leader Carlos Quentin broke his wrist after punching his own bat when he was pissed! gahh! Probably out for the rest of the season. So stupid...Now I don't like the Sox chances to even make the playoffs....grrr.
What are some other "stupid" injuries that you can think of?
I recall Grammatica celebrating after a made field goal, injuring himself for the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Also, Tony Allen tore his ACL going for a dunk LONG after the whistle and the play had been called dead - I think it was last year...Sammy Sosa hurt his back after a "violent sneeze" (did the sneeze attack him?), although rumors in Chicago were that it was while he was getting intimate with a women. Any others? These injuries just make you even more mad because they were so easily avoidable...

July 4 2005. Me being super-drunk and bonelessing of the rail of the boat with the barefoot boom rope at 40 mph and breaking my fibula. Pulled it off at normal speed last year though...

Joe Nedney of the Tennessee Titans tore an ACL on a kickoff trying to tackle someone. But maybe placekickers are expendable...

Joel Zumaya for the Tigers hurting his hand from playing video games. Wasn't it Guitar Hero?

Evidently, the Golden State Warriors would put Monta Ellis in this category.

Sammy Sosa hurt his back after a "violent sneeze" (did the sneeze attack him?)
I strained a muscle along the ribcage(intercostal?) while coughing. It was painful for a few weeks...
Unless my memory is failing me again, Jay punched a (padded) basketball goal support after a key play and hurt himself.

I did something to my right knee at the end of an impromptu golf lesson last Thursday. On what was supposed to be the last swing (and it was), I somehow snapped/rotated my right knee more than usual, and I heard and felt something pop. My first thought, after "ouch!", was "I swung like Tiger Woods. Oh, my God, I've torn my ACL" but I don't think that's it, and I know I'm not Tiger Woods. A doctor said the injury is "outside the knee" and may be a tendon. It doesn't hurt 99% of the time, but certain movements do hurt, although not consistently - like climbing stairs, sometimes I feel something behind the knee, most times I don't. Unfortunately, one thing that does hurt is making a golf swing. I was going to play Sunday afternoon, but when I went up to the driving range to test the knee, I never got past leg stretching without pain. Simulating a swing without a club verified that "something isn't right" behind the knee. What feels like a tiny bit of instability and occasional slight pain remains. I'm hoping that by next Sunday (I'll be at the game on Saturday so don't expect to play) whatever it is will have heeded sufficiently to let me play golf.

Years ago, then third baseman Carney Lansford of the A's tore up his knee in a snowmobiling accident on his ranch in Oregon.
Not to be out done Jeff Kent, then with the Giants, took himself out for a while while doing wheelies on his motorcycle. Then there was our Jason Williams who hadn't learned how to drive a motorcycle....
