You know, author of The Notebook, Message in a Bottle, etc.
I would love to burn him on a pyre of his own books. How about you?

I really, really, really want to hate Nicholas Sparks. To be fair, I haven't read any of his work, and refuse to watch any movies based upon his work so I can't pass judgement on the guy. Perhaps I shall just not think of him and he'll disappear.

Girlfriend made you watch The Notebook?

(FWIW, I've never read any of his books or seen movies based on them.)

Actually, my girlfriend is one of those not-that-good-at-sitting-still, feels-bad-if-she-allows-herself-two-hours-of-leisure types, so no. I just consider Nicholas Sparks to be a human affront to every shred of my being and my professional acumen.

I would like to see Nicholas Sparks just up and explode one day. That is not a metaphor. I would literally like to see Nicholas Sparks, while perhaps taking a casual stroll along a serene beach, literally burst into flames and then completely explode.

If I saw that, while fishing from a nearby pier and downing a cold one, I think that would put a gentle smile on my face.

I'm not a big fan.

Which ocean would you be fishing in at the time? ;)

This poll is really interesting to me because as it happens, Nicholas Sparks lives within maybe half a mile of my house.

One of his sons is one of my friends, he's in my APUSH class...

We even went on a ski trip one time with a few families, including the Sparks.

I was on the indoor track team last year that he coached.
Well, sort of. I ran long distance and he coached the middle distance runners.

etc. etc.

To be honest however, i'm not sure if I like him that much...
Never read one of his books. I did see the notebook though, it was a decent movie but i'm not sure if I would want to spend the time reading it as a book.

Do me a favor. Next time you go to the Sparks' house, tell Mr. Sparks that wilson thinks he's a ginormous douchebag.
Mmkay?

Well that's just garish and unpleasant. Like his writing.

Calling his writing 'garish' is giving him way too much credit. It would imply that it may actually have a certain style or quality, even if unappreciated.

Very good point. So now we know he's a crappy writer and he has bad taste at home.
