Yes, I'm very sad to see he has passed.

Yes it is sad but like the Tony Snow in recent days he did not look so good. Also pancreatic cancer is such a monster really eats up people quickly, Michael Landon, Billy Carter and the list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Pancreatic_cancer_deaths) is long. Steve Jobs had a rare treatable form. So it is interesting in that the Apple man was basically told he was going to die based on a CT scan and then an improbable biopsy result told him he was going to live.

What some readers may not realize is that Carnegie Mellon has arguably the finest computer science department in the country and to be a tenured professor there at a young age is a tremendous accomplishment. He was truly a remarkable man. One interesting aspect of his last lecture was how meaningful to him his football career was.
