I am the biggest Muppet fan you know (full disclosure: I recently joined a Muppets board, but these boards will always be my first love). Lots of people, however, don't "get" the Muppets, and find puppets in general to be sort of weird.
What about you?

I grew up on the Muppets (and sesame st., but the muppets are teachers with attitude)

I remember wishing that Lawrence Welk and Hee_Haw would hurry the hell up so Kermit and friends would come on. In a related thread topic semi-hijack. the Today show that I watched them air they interviewed the guy who voices Elmo. He's a big guy, never would have expected it. We didn't meet him, but it was pretty cool to see someone his size squeek out Elmo's voice.

Wait, are you saying the muppets are puppets!?!? Way to crash my childhood into the ground, Wilson...

Thank you, my friend. I am very glad to know there are other enlightened souls around here.

When I was young, my parents brought my brother and I puppets when they returned from a trip. I couldn't make mine do much so I gave up in frustration. I haven't thought about puppets much since then and don't have strong feelings for them one way or the other.

I owe my puppet affection to Fraggle Rock, The Muppets, and Pinwheel.

I have always been a huge Muppet fan. I grew up watching Sesame Street as much as possible and The Muppet Show every Saturday night (after the Pink Panther). I have the first three season dvds plus all of the previously released 4-epi dvds. I also have Muppet stuff from my childhood that would impress any collector.

When I was in grade school, I dreamed of working for Jim Henson one day. Sadly, that will never happen.

I like the Muppets generally speaking, but other puppets creep me out. Like those puppets on Mr. Rodgers, you know with the sticks for arms? Those are the kind that can come to life in your toy box at night and strangle you. I never liked Mr. Rodgers all that much for that specific reason.
