Argghh. After not timing me out, I forgot to let it pick multiple choice. This one is too hard to just pick one. If it doesn't go through this time, forget it.

Regardless of the recent movie, I picked the Joker. He's been my favorite ever since watching Ceasar Romero camp it up on TV. And after The Dark Knight Returns (F. Miller's graphic novel), he was cemented in my head as the bad guy of all bad guys. Sick and twisted, just the way they should be.

On the list, we have demented psychotics, fancy pants mutants, bizarre altered humans and a few aliens. Silver Surfer switched teams and he's a good guy now.

Galactus devours worlds. Nuff said.

I took 'best' to mean most interesting and well developed. Thus, it's Magneto by a mile.

What about "super"? Joker's a freak, but he's zippo in the powers department. Only a couple of these guys are "super villians."

Although I never read a comic with him as a character, I remember liking Bizarro in the Superfriends. I guess he's more misunderstood than a villain, but I think he'd qualify.

Silver Surfer could kill all other villans combined, including Roy Williams, Dean Smith, and of course, Sean May...

Silver Surfer is:

a) not a villain, and

b) Galactus' pool boy.

So I don't like his chances against Galactus, Sean May or any other devourer of worlds.

Well, Magneto is a champ on that front as well. Control of metals? Making Wolverine our puppet at any opportunity? That's awesome.

Magneto is the best mutant super villain hands down. Ian McKellan's portrayal in the X-men series is fantastic.

I have to assume at least some of the Joker votes are influenced by temporal locality. He's a clown-faced dork.

Missed this the first time through. Love it!

Ah. I did not realize Galactus was the name of the planet devourer.

Maybe we could call it Heath Ledger Phenomena?

I'm going off the board with Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman... Rowwrrrrr....

(Nothing against Julie Newmar - I understand she had the goods too, but that was before my time...)

I guess this is restricted to comics, otherwise you're leaving out one of the most iconic villains of 20th century pop culture, Darth Vader. I think Gargamel deserves a shout out too, his genocidal rages against the smurfs were legendary.

What?! No Darth Vader? No Dr. No? No Hannibal Lecter?

No George W. Bush? (....sorry, just couldn't help myself -- sorry, HC)
