As it turns out, Memphis was notified that there were questions about an SAT score a month after their run to the title game. The player in question is generally understood to be Derrick Rose. Meanwhile, Dick Vitale has weighed in and counsels patience when it comes to John Calipari.
And on Tuesday, more details should be public as Memphis will release a response to the NCAA's letter and maintain that, contrary to what the NCAA is saying, no one took the test for Rose.
Meanwhile, in the pages of Kentucky.com, Mark Story looks at the Kentucky-Gillispie dispute, and issues a veiled warning to Billy Gillispie:
"Which is not to say, that in taking his case to court, Gillispie has nothing to lose. In terms of his reputation, I think he has a ton at risk the longer this goes.
"If Billy G. hopes to coach again â especially at a major (BCS conference) school â I suspect it is not in his interest at all for UK to air in full the grievances that led to its firing the coach after only two years.
"For one thing, I am fairly certain that Gillispie's coaching methods, if revealed via testimony, would not be real appealing to future employers."
