Randolph Suffers Injury

Thursday, November 30th, 2006 by DBR Staff

Shavlik Randolph, who has surprised a lot of people, us included, by sticking in the NBA, had a major setback when he broke his ankle. It sounds pretty serious. Best of luck to him in his recovery.

DeCourcy On State & UNC

Thursday, November 30th, 2006 by DBR Staff

Mike DeCourcy has two ACC-related columns up today, one suggesting UNC
(and Ohio State) can improve a lot, and one arguing that
State should move Gavin Grant to the point.
State may or may not have a choice, but certainly he’s correct
about
UNC and Ohio
State improving. We’ve been keeping an eye on Thad
Matta for some [...]

ACC Roundup

Thursday, November 30th, 2006 by DBR Staff

In the second night of ACC action, the conference nailed down a lopsided
victory over the Big Ten, winning 8-3.  UNC ran past Ohio State, 98-89,
B.C. was impressive in beating Michigan State, 65-58, Virginia Tech survived an
Iowa comeback, 69-65, Clemson went to 8-0 after thumping Minnesota, 90-68, and
Virginia lost to Purdue on a last-second jumper, 61-59. [...]

Duke Throttles Old Dominion

Thursday, November 30th, 2006 by DBR Staff

Duke 89, Old Dominion 40. November 29, 2006. Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Over the weekend, Duke traveled to Michigan and dispatched the Wolverines with ease. The game was a
homecoming for Coach G, who grew up in the area and had lots of family and
friends in attendance. Duke blistered Michigan with their [...]

Slate On Haith’s Nephew & Police Behavior

Thursday, November 30th, 2006 by DBR Staff

Slate has an interesting article up href=”http://www.slate.com/id/2154631/” target=_top>
“contagioius shooting,” although it only has a brief reference to
basketball. It’s a story about the shooting of Frank Haith’s nephew and how (and
maybe why) the police tried to put about 50 bullets in him.
Stanley Crouch has some thoughts as well.

Big East Not So Great?

Thursday, November 30th, 2006 by DBR Staff

Gary Parrish takes a whack at the Big East, calling it overrated and top-heavy. The basic reality is that when you have sixteen teams, some of them have to suck. Just as a thought, why not have a not-so-great Challenge and let the bottom four ACC teams take on the bottom four Big East? [...]

Back From The Damned

Thursday, November 30th, 2006 by DBR Staff

The name Kojak Fuller may ring a bell: a highly rated high school recruit a
while back, Fuller ended up in prison for a while. But
he has turned his life around and won praise even from the prosecutor who
put him away.
