Georgia Tech’s stay in the Top 25 will be brief this time: the Jackets lost to Dayton, a dangerous team as we mentioned this morning, 63-59. Rookie star Derrick Favors had 10 points and six boards; Gani Lawal had eight boards and nine points.

In Wednesday night ACC action, Wake Forest beat Scott Cherry’s High Point team, 83-60, and FSU clobbered Stetson, 80-38.

In ACC action, Clemson had no trouble with Liberty in the morning, winning 79-39, B.C. whacked St. Francis, 72-44, Maryland flicked Fairfield aside, 71-42, and Virginia Tech got by UNCG, 59-42.

In Monday night ACC action, FSU beat Jacksonville, 81-67, Miami beat someone called Nova Southeast, 108-58, and Virginia, as predicted here yesterday, lost the ACC’s first game of the year to South Florida, 66-49.

In ACC Sunday night action, Virginia Tech had no problem with Brown, winning 69-55, Wake clubbed ECU 89-58, and UNC got past Valpo, 88-77, in a closer game than many thought, although we told you it might be.

In ACC action, Clemson thumped Presbyterian, 84-41, B.C. had no problem with Dartmouth, 89-58, Virginia took care of Longwood, 85-72, Maryland clobbered Charleston Southern, 89-51, and Wake managed Oral Roberts, 76-56.
