For various reasons, Stanford has a weakened roster and faces a possibly tough year. Talent is on the way, though, as Johnny Dawkins has put together a very nice recruiting class.

Stanford’s had a rough time early this season with injuries and suspensions and the roster is correspondingly thin. However, his kids showed against Sonoma State that they have potential, and there is more talent on the way

Jeff Capel says that the Big 12 is the best league in the country this year. Bit early for that, but he could be right.

We knew that Johnny Dawkins had suspended Jeremy Green, but we assumed, being Stanford, that it was academics. Not so: Green was suspended after being charged with felony domestic violence.

Stanford might have a tough season this year, with the normal transition between on coaches players who are exiting the system and another’s who are coming in. Johnny Dawkins & co. have put together a Top 15 class, though, that promises to be pretty good by the time all is said and done.

Johnny Dawkins & company have lined up a visit from highly regarded, 6′6" Anthony Brown, who appears to be considering only PAC-10 schools – he’s also visiting UCLA, Cal, and Arizona.

While it’s weird to see them competing for talent, it is remarkable that Tommy Amaker’s Harvard is in the final three for 6-9 Dwight Powell, along with former teammate Johnny Dawkins Stanford program and Georgia Tech.

When Tommy Amaker took the Harvard job, a lot of people, us included, thought it wasn’t the smartest move in the world. But look: he’s recruiting with anyone now, and selling the Harvard brand in a big way. It’s pretty spectacular for them to be involved with the people they’re involved with.
