DBR contributor Jim Sumner has a nice piece up over at GoDuke.com up on Duke freshman Wendell Moore.
He talks about Moore as being similar to guys like David Henderson, Justise Winslow and Chris Carrawell, guys who Duke could and did use in multiple roles. We’ll never forget Carrawell going after Tim Duncan as a freshman and really playing him to a standstill, or Henderson gearing up for Michael Jordan. Winslow was similar in that he never backed down from any challenge.
We’re really intrigued by Moore. In his first few games, he’s had a tendency to force things but that’s starting to fade as he finds his rhythm. His versatility is going to be a major asset going forward.
Tre Jones is going to be Duke’s point guard for as long as he is here and Vernon Carey and Javin DeLaurier will hold down the post.
Otherwise, Duke can move various pieces around and Moore’s versatility, as he emerges, makes everyone else more dangerous because he will allow them to play to their strengths. He’s a huge asset to this team.
