Here’s Stephen Curry talking about what it was like to play for Coach K on the national team and in the Olympics.
He talks first about having to take on new roles then about how Mike Krzyzewski managed the team and kept everyone emotionally keen to compete.
This is the sort of thing that Stephen A. Smith called “an unfair advantage” for Duke when it comes to recruiting but what it actually is is an earned advantage. He took the job after Larry Brown’s Athens train wreck in 2004 when nobody wanted it and did it supremely well. The fact that guys like Curry and LeBron James so thoroughly enjoyed it is just part of the legacy.
