Duke released more details on the Dominican trip Tuesday.
The dates are August 17-24th and there will be two games. The first is on August 20th and the second on August 23rd, both against the Dominican Republic National Team.
The point of taking a team on a trip like this is usually to help a young group get kick started, and that’s especially true for Duke as the Blue Devils lost a ton of talent last year.
Coach K said this about the trip: “The Dominican Republic is a good team, and we're going to see who our guys are during these practices and games. We lost seven of our top eight scorers from last season; this is almost an entirely new team. No matter how much you work out or practice, you really don't know about a team until you see it in competition. This will be an unbelievable bonding experience for our group and we'll also get to see how they play together before we start practice at the end of September.”
So it’ll be an interesting trip. Don’t be shocked if a less talented but more experienced Dominican team pushes Duke or even wins a game.
