We talk a lot about the coaching carousel this time of year but the fact is that player movement is much more common.
On Thursday, Chase Jeter announced he was leaving Duke, Darius Thompson announced he is leaving Virginia and will be immediately eligible next year, while NC State recruit Thomas Allen re-opened his recruitment.
Meanwhile, Virginia’s hopes to get a late commitment from Michael Porter probably took a hit when his dad took a job with Cuonzo Martin at Mizzou. The elder Porter had a long-term relationship with his boss at Washington, Lorenzo Romar, who is Michael’s godfather.
He has no such (known) relationship with Martin. But he does have a bunch of kids, all promising talents. So odds are he’ll be employed for a good while.
And Jordan Tucker, once committed to Indiana, is back on the market after Tom Crean was fired and is considering Syracuse and Georgia Tech.
Talk about sore losers: an Arkansas lawmaker was so upset about losing to UNC that he proposed a Resolution protesting the officiating.
It did pretty much suck, but geez.
It was approved 17 seconds later. A copy will be sent to the NCAA.
On the bright side, it is kind of funny.
