That's not too far from Boone, just about 50 miles up Highway 421.
It's a town of just 13,00 souls or so and with limited competition for any young athlete.
Schubert averaged 11 ppg, 8 rebounds and four blocks.
She also ran cross country, the 400 and 800 meters and threw the discus and was first in her class academically to boot.
The question for her, as for any recruit, is brutally simple: how good is she?
And the answer is we can't possibly know.
The closest meaningful towns are Boone (51,00) and Johnson City, Tennessee (66,00, give or take a few).
In that part of the country, basketball falls somewhere behind football, baseball, NASCAR and possibly softball.
There's no high school NASCAR of course, but it's immensely popular and is right there with football for popular attention.
Schubert has probably never played against high-level competition and certainly not on a regular basis. But she is 6-4, apparently she can run well and McCallie says she has great fundamentals.
At a minimum it's a worthwhile gamble.
