We're on record as saying that we think Danny Manning will be a solid coach (quick, has anyone thought to ask him about the SMU situation and his former coach Larry Brown?), but we're particularly interested to see what kind of teacher he'll be.

He has another kid to test his theories on: 6-11 (or 6-10, depending on who you ask) Samuel Japhet-Mathias. Japhet-Mathias currently lives in London but has attended school stateside.
His coach, Alex Popp, is very high on his potential: "I think he has a very high ceiling. The fact that he is 6-11, 270 pounds with great hands and feet is fantastic, but his greatest gift is his love for the game. He just started playing and he is only 16. I have coached a few McDonald’s All-Americans, and he is on par with them.’’
