For some that comes in their 30s; for others, it comes much earlier. And it's come now for Duke's admirable Kelby Brown, who has had four ACL injuries in five years. He's a sixth-year senior so there's no way to continue.
The good news? Like virtually all Duke athletes, he'll graduate, get a highly respected degree and will have a lot of options going forward. Medical school is a possibility.
We're sorry to see him stop playing on a sad note, but this is the beginning of his journey, not the end.
