We've always thought that it would be interesting to have Kentucky in the ACC. Turns out it was actively discussed in the 1990s.

Now, with Louisville set to join in a few days, the story is obviously relevant - and Lexington columnist Mark Story sounds a bit wistful it didn't happen.

It would have been interesting in a lot of ways. Obviously having Duke, UNC and Kentucky in the same conference would have been incredible, but it would also have been interesting to see Kentucky in a truly competitive conference. Trips to Duke, UNC, State, Wake Forest, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Maryland - it would have been completely amazing to see how that transpired over a couple of decades.

Having Louisville is going to be intriguing in the same way, and to judge by Story's piece, there's a bit of
