KU To Carry U.S. Banner To World University Games

It's up to Kansas coach Bill Self to keep the U.S. #1. - Dilip Vishwanat

As in the Jayhawks are the team and the team is all Jayhawks.

Is it an unfair advantage for the next season?

Yes. It is, however, a great move for the U.S. team.

Actually, someone did try it, sort of, back in 1976.

Dean Smith took a lot of criticism for taking four Tar Heels, Duke's Tate Armstrong, Maryland's Steve Shepard and State's Kenny Carr.

Phil Ford, Walter Davis, Mitch Kupchak and Tom LaGarde allowed Smith to jumpstart taking a group to a team, and the other ACC guys were also very familiar with UNC's schemes.

Not surprisingly, it was a brilliant move.
