When you see the basics of Wake's loss to Florida, you see the score - 63-50 - and then the 17 steals Florida racked up.

But that doesn't tell the story.
First, earlier in the day, Mitchell Wilbekin was suspended by the NCAA for undisclosed reasons. And Wake coach Danny Manning suspended two others, basically to get their attention.
Cornelius Hudson, Rondale Watson and Wilbekin are all freshmen. Wilbekin has been starting.
Overall Wake committed 24 turnovers - 10 by Devin Thomas alone.
Still, Wake was in the game with just under 9:00 to go, 46-45, but ran out of steam the rest down the stretch, scoring only two more baskets the rest of the game.
This game also saw the debut of Duke transfer Alex Murphy. Murphy got 27 minutes, shot 2-4 from the floor and 5-6 from the line for nine points, had four boards, two steals, two blocks and three turnovers.
Manning rejected the notion of a moral victory, which is what you'd expect a coach to say. If a loss can be encouraging, though, this one should be. Wake had tons of adversity and hung in as long as their legs did. The Deacs certainly exceeded expectations Saturday.
So did Syracuse and arguably UNC.
We didn't think Syracuse, with so many issues, had a chance at Villanova. Yet the 'Cuse took it to overtime before falling 82-77.
Villanova's Jay Clark figured, reasonably, that Syracuse was vulnerable to the press. Kaleb Joseph is struggling with turnovers and he's a freshman.
Jim Boeheim made a logical adjustment though and used Michael Gbinije to bring the ball up. Gbinije finished with one of his better games, scoring 18 points, pulling down eight boards and five assists.
Syracuse was up by five with 10 seconds left in regulation and should've had it.
Villanova hit a three and pressed on the inbounds. Out of timeouts - should've called Dean Smith, he retired with about 800 left over - Gbinije tried to get the ball to Rakeem Christmas.
Bad decision. Villanova took it away and tied the game.
It's classic Syracuse, really. Boeheim at times poo-poos over preparing, but another coach, another program, would've had something for the situation other than Gbinije getting off a weak shot at the end of OT.
The guy didn't win 954 games by accident, but how many has he lost when his team lacked composure at the end?
We weren't at all sure that UNC was ready to take Ohio State, but Ol' Roy talked all week about "No more Mr. Nice Guy," and maybe that worked.
The Heels won 82-74 and pretty easily outclassed Ohio State.
Good Brice Johnson returned, shooting 8-10 and pulling down nine boards.
He was the only starter that shot well -UNC hit 44.6% overall and just 3-13 from three point range - but the Heels had 53 rebounds, including 18 offensive.
Ohio State had 40 and 14.
Also of note: UNC's shooting woes extended to the foul line, where the Heels hit just 21-33 for 63.6%.
Marcus Paige was just 4-12 and 2-8 from deep.
Didn't matter.
UNC held Ohio State to 34.7% and made the Buckeyes look slow.
A scandal-related trivia question and we have no idea what the answer is: who was the last UNC player to be in academic trouble?
Louisville had a bit of an issue with Montrezl Harrell, who got booted after tossing an elbow. It was a bit more than that because that sounds like he swung on a rebound or something.
Not quite: Harrell went down with several other players and came up enraged. He was lucky he didn't throw a fist instead; as it was, he was kicked out. A fist would've cost him another game.
A total of six techs were called in this game.
Lucky for Louisville that the Cards had Terry Rozier, who stepped up with 32.
Louisville won by just 76-67, so things worked out, but it could've been a massive screw-up by Harrell, who has no doubt heard as much from coach Rick Pitino.
Virginia Tech just barely beat Chuck Driesell's Citadel team, but win they did. Buzz Williams is now 6-4, just three wins away from last year's total of nine, and with a lot less on the roster, too.
We should point out that the Hokies are seven points from being 9-1.
Vandy is a great measuring stick for Georgia Tech at this point, and the Yellow Jackets passed the test, winning 65-60.
Charles Mitchell and Marcus Georges-Hunt led the way with 19 and 14 points respectively. Mitchell also grabbed eight boards.

Under the radar: Georgia Tech has won five of six and lost to Marquette by two.
Dayton and Charlotte are up next, and both are real challenging opponents and then it's off to ACC play, with Notre Dame, Syracuse, Wake, Notre Dame and Pitt for starters.
The first Notre Dame game is on the road, as is Wake and Pitt.
Remember Juwan Staten? He was a Brian Gregory recruit who left Dayton in anger, transferring ultimately to West Virginia.
On Saturday, he led the Mountaineers to an 83-69 win over State in the Gotham Classic.
State kept it close, but West Virginia outscored the Pack 21-11 late.
Anthony Barber had 16 and Trevor Lacey 24 for State, which shot well - 55.6% overall and nearly 60% from three pont range - but missed 14 free throws.
The Pack still needs help up front, but this is a team with some potential.
Florida State had a block party against South Florida, throwing away 15. Jarquez Smith had six, matching FSU's trio of seven footers.
Devon Bookert hit for 22 to pace the 'Noles.
Oakland fell to Pitt, but not by much - just four in overtime.
Oakland is just 4-8 incidentally.
Oakland coach Greg Kampe gave credit to point guard James Robinson for making all the right plays down the stretch.
Cameron Wright, back from injury, seems be back in the groove: the senior had 16 points, five boards, four assists, two steals and a block.
Finally, Notre Dame punished Purdue, 94-63, a game punctuated by a big play by guard Demetrius Jackson, who dunked over 7-2 Isaac Haas, who originally committed to Wake Forest.
Notre Dame's bounce-back season continues with the Irish now 11-1. Expect the Irish to enter ACC play 13-1.
